The microphone isn’t listed or the meter doesn’t move
- Open Settings › Privacy & security › Microphone and allow desktop apps to use it.
- Reconnect USB microphones and choose the device again in the recorder.
- Check the device is not muted in Settings › System › Sound.
Computer sound records as silence
Select the playback device you are actually listening on. If you switch from speakers to headphones, choose the new device in the recorder too.
A file won’t open
The file may use an unsupported codec or DRM protection. Convert it to WAV in the program that plays it and open the WAV. See FAQ question 7.
Video or YouTube import fails
- The first import needs internet access to prepare helper components.
- Use Help › Update YouTube download module, then retry.
- Private, age-restricted or region-locked videos may not import.
Lost work after a crash
Restart the program and look for the recovery prompt for drafts. Turn on auto-backup so you always have a recent copy.
